Subject: azaleas
A friend has some dwarf azaleas that bloomed and then the leaves turned a lighter green color. What could be the problem. I can send you a picture. Thank you!
Answer:
Hi Ann,
It appears that your friend's azaleas may be low on nitrogen. Perhaps suggest she get some Holly Tone (Gro-Smart in hillsborough) and apply a small amount around the base of the azalea and water in lightly. She can add more until the color is the correct green. Holly tone is good for all acid loving plants and shrubs, but only use a little. It stores very well for ages.
Sometimes azaleas turn yellow from too much water.
Also have her check for lace bugs
